Common Tips to Prevent Root Canal:
flossing for root canal prevention

As much as we love seeing our patients, we do not want them to have to experience dental pains associated with an infected tooth.
Here are some common tips that help you maintain a healthy mouth.
Our experienced Beverly Hills Endodontic team is skilled in providing a virtually pain-free experience for our root canal patients, but prevention (if possible) is always the best option.

Here are some common tips to care for your teeth and prevent root canal treatment and/or re-treatment

  1. We’ll say it once and we’ll say it again – always remember to brush your teeth at least twice a day, every day
  2. Floss your teeth daily to dislodge harmful bacteria and food particles that cannot be reached by brushing alone, as they may lead to cavities, bad breath, gum disease, plaque build-up and even heart disease
  3. Visit your dentist for regular check-ups and cleanings, as well as early detection of dental issues
  4. Try to avoid hard or brittle foods, or at least keep them to a minimum to avoid cracking or injuring your teeth; a cracked tooth allows bacteria to enter the exposed root, which could lead to infection and further complications
  5. Wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth at night or when playing sports, or if you suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching), as they can also lead to a fractured tooth
  6. Avoid beverages that are highly acidic, like soda or drinks that are high in citric acids, as they not only wear down the enamel of teeth, but also fill the exposed areas which can lead to tooth decay and cavities
