Please review following to help ensure your procedure goes as smoothly as possible:
- It is best to eat a full breakfast or lunch as applicable to your appointment time.
- Normally, only local anesthesia will be used during your procedure, so there are usually no restrictions on activities such as driving immediately afterward.
- If you are currently taking medications for blood pressure, diabetes, or any other conditions as recommended by your physician, you may continue using them. If you are taking antibiotic premedication because of mitral valve prolapse (MVP), heart murmur or a prosthetic device, or if you have rheumatic heart disease, please be on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your procedure.
- If you like, taking 2 tablets of ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen sodium (Aleve) 2 to 4 hours before your appointment does help to reduce inflammation during the procedure.
If you have questions about any of the above, please call our office at (310) 553-3232.
